Contemporary Experiments in Animation

These five short avant-garde animations by Hank Willis Thomas, Kambui Olujimi, Carla Gannis, Harun Farocki, Helen Marten and Christina Grupposo feature wildly different approaches to animation, including stop motion, collage, CGI, appropriated video games and emojis. Using these methods, the artists make deep observations about contemporary society, politics, religion and the meaning of life. These screenings are part of “Whole Grain: Experiments in Film & Video.” For more information, go to tang.skidmore.edu.
