Other parks in the Capital Region have free summer concerts - notably at Music Haven in Schenectady and Freedom Park in Scotia. Although lesser known for free music, Saratoga Springs' historic Congress Park comes alive with a free summer concert music series from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays in July and on Tuesdays in August.
Set up your lawn chairs and picnic baskets and then boogie along with gypsy-jazz-swing ensemble Hot Club of Saratoga on July 23 and Troy's Cryin' Out Loud, a band that plays wedding-style party hits, on Aug. 8. Groove to the modern Nashville and alt-country sounds of Crow Ridge on Aug. 15 and check out one-man-band Rich Ortiz on Aug. 22, who plays harmonica, six- and 12-string acoustic guitar and peddle bass with his feet. The season closes on Aug. 29, with The AudioStars, local favorites who get the crowd moving with classic party hits.
