Several artists will make their SPAC debuts:
Conrad Tao (Aug. 3) is only 23 years old, but he has already received many awards for his piano skills and compositions. He’ll perform Rachmaninoff’s lyrically famous Piano Concerto No. 2.
The Marcus Roberts Trio offers its take on Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” (Aug. 10). Roberts, who has been blind since age 5, had by age 21 become a fabulous jazz pianist and toured with famed trumpeter Wynton Marsalis for six years.
The French-Canadian cellist Stephane Tetreault (Aug. 17) is 23 years old, but he has worked several times with Philly music director Yannick Nezet-Seguin, including in his fall debut last year with the orchestra. He reprises that concert with the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto.
French-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie, who has recorded more than 30 albums, is well known internationally for his interpretations of Frederic Chopin’s music. On Aug. 18, he’ll perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1. S
